Still trying new things on the CSM

Last night I decided to try out the "e-wrap" to start a cuff on a top-down sock. I wanted to see how it stretched, how it looked, all that stuff. I still haven't tried out the ribber at all, so I'm making all my socks with mock ribbing.

So, I start with my ugly orange scrap yarn, then I removed every third needle to make the mock 2x1 ribbing.

You can see where it changed from every needle to the mock ribbing. It's cool watching these things happen while I knit on the machine.

Here's the pretty yarn I picked for this pair! I love the rainbow swirls once I wind it!

And here's the wrapped needles.

I like how it looks! Time to make the sock!

Neat isn't it!

Ok...all done and off the machine. I discovered THE BEST way to kitchener the toe shut!!!! Work it from the inside!!!!!! I no longer hate the kitchener stitch :D

I can't tell there's any edge on it at all with the scrap yarn still attached.

I kind of like how the e wrap selvedge came out! It's nice and stretchy.

The only problem is that it rolls.

It really doesn't roll much though. I just don't really care for rolled edges on anything. It wouldn't be bad on a pair of wrist warmers actually. I might try that soon.

It took a few tries to take those last 2 pics. My furry little helpers were checking out the new sock. I had to keep pushing tails out of the way lol. They're finally sitting down...one at each foot. Pity on the left and Socks on the right :D

I'm planning on frogging this sock, then making it over with the boring old picot hem I've been using all along.

Not because of the rolled edge though. For some reason I messed up my kitchener at the end. I have no idea how. Also, I managed to make it a bit too big and for some reason, the heel came out extra pointy. I'm still learning haha.

Other than that, I love these! I'm planning on making them over in the morning :)

As I was winding the sock back into a ball, I noticed just how much I love this yarn on the purl side! It's really cool looking. I think I'll make a hat or something with this yarn and the purl side out.

Another thing I noticed is that there's not much yarn left over at the end. I'm hoping to make a matching pair, but I might not be able to. Balls of Patons Kroy have JUST enough to make a single sock. We'll see what happens!

Thanks for reading! See ya later!

Cathy
